Creativity

creativity-2

I was going to post a single quote for creativity but, in keeping with the nature of the word itself, there appear to be multiple different views on what creativity actually is.

Scott Adams, creator of Dilbert, has described creativity as the freedom to fail and try again.

“Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep.” ~ Scott Adams

Steve Jobs, the late founder and CEO of Apple, saw creativity as perception.

“Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn’t really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while. That’s because they were able to connect experiences they’ve had and synthesize new things.” ~ Steve Jobs

Meanwhile, Ray Kroc, founder of McDonald’s Corporation, viewed creativity as the humble process that results from showing up and doing the work.

“Creativity is a highfalutin word for the work I have to do between now and Tuesday.” ~ Ray Kroc

What does creativity mean to you?
