Rachel Longden
So, here's the plan. I'm currently doing an MBA at a top 5 MBA b-school in the States, and I want to get an MBB offer. It has surprised me how many students get offers from MBB, especially at Kellogg. How can I give myself the best chance of gaining a position at MBB? Sally McKenzie
Hi Rachel, Spend a lot of time doing case prep, there is really no short cut to practicing the style, structure and approach that you need to do well in the case interview. In this regard, take a look at Victor Cheng's Case Interview Workshop Series and the Case Interview Prep Notes. Other than that network with alums and consulting firms. MBB will always need to hire lots of freshly minted MBAs because turnover is constand, and engagements continue to grow. Does that help? Good luck! Rachel Longden
Thanks for sharing those consulting resources. Your thoughts confirm what I was thinking, and it's good to know I was thinking along the right lines. Cheers, Rachel
Eric Yau
Consulting is a tough industry to break into and competition is fierce. There are many other good option including work in industry. Rachel, are you American citizen? If not, your odds of MBB are lowered. Banking and consulting are the most coveted roles because MBA students are (1) ambitious, and (2) needing to pay back $100,000+ of debt. Rachel Longden
Yes, I'm from Cali. My heart is set on consulting and not willing to entertain thoughts of working in industry. We'll see what the future holds.
